Know Sorrow, Know Happiness Two diseases that most suffered by women, Cervical Cancer and Lupus erythematosus. And then this one become our topic on last monday’s women psychology class. Most of our discussion last monday are talking about the disease’s symptoms, characteristic, treatment, and the prevention (for cervical cancer). I’m not going to explain the detail of those diseases here in my blog, i will give a brief explanation for each disease. Cervical cancer, is a cancer that arise in cervix. Since women is the only one who have cervix, then of course this cancer only attack women. This cancer caused by HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) and the symptoms are vaginal bleeding between periods, continous vaginal discharge, and periods become longer. There are still a lot of cervical cancer’s symptoms. And for lupus erythematosus or well known as lupus, still suffered by men but most of the sufferer is women. Lupus is a name given to a collection of autoimmune diseases. This disesase is still mysterious, the cause and why women is more potential to affected are still not explained clearly. Before the discussion, i think the cause came from instant food, but it was explained that this disease passed by genes. Still, there is no actual evidence of the cause and the reason why women is more potential to be affected. To have a wide explanation, we could find it from literature or do browsing with internet. What i’m going to write on this blog is not the detail explanation of those diseases. I want to write about what i’ve got form last monday’s class. The relationship between these disease and women psychology. Actually, i don’t have a lot of information about cervical cancer from my society. But, my lecturer said that this is most happened to a women who ‘play’ a lot and accidentally met a men who bring the HPV and affect that women. So, if we love our body and use our reproductive system for serious use then this disease is almost impossible to be happened. As a women we should treasure, love, and care our body. Women’s body isn’t used for play, we shouldn’t play the reproductive system to gain the enjoyment while this play is dangerous for us. Again, the one and the only one who can treat the body is of course the owner of the body. Like my blog’s name, “Anima sana in corpore sano” means “Healthy soul in healthy body”. To gain a healthy body, we should have a heathy soul. If our body isn’t healthy then the same goes to our soul. We are the only one who have the full responsibility to our body. No one know how terrible and painful the cervical cancer if we haven’t experienced it ourselves. The information of cervical cancer only creeps us, they didn’t give us the painful experiences. Then to prevent it, we shouldn’t take the risk of ‘play’ only to find the excitement and enjoyment. It’s not the only way. Aware of how the viruses affect us. And take an early movement before it’s too late. And for lupus, as a women, we won’t ever know if we will be affected by this disease or not. I think this one a little bit similiar to ‘time bomb’. We don’t know if the bomb will be exploded or not, and when it will happen. I have see the true story from lupus sufferer. She is very young back then, she was informed that she have lupus when she is 17th years old. And the diagnosis is too late for her. From what i heard, she was already in critical condition. But, it doesn’t mean that she is unhelped. She was a very cheerful, dilligent women, and have a great passion in art. I don’t know the detail but the cost of her treatment is almost impossible for her family to pay, and her family choose not to take the treatment for her. She was died when she turn 18th years old and about 3 days before the announcement of final national exam’s result. I think her family are already lost their hope and give up, since their child already in critical condition. Should we give up when we are diagnosed with mysterious disease? All of us would said that we mustn’t. Yes, we mustn’t. Eventhough the future will differs from past. We can’t do the same as we did in past. We will lead a life which is painful to us. But, we might said that we won’t give up now, how about later on? I bet that we at least will have a feel of wanting to give up for once. We lost our hopes or not, again depends on how much we treasure our life. The happiness will come itself to people who feel that they are happy and will be happy eventhough they lead a painful life. Be happy or not depends on ourselves, feel it or not? (Imelda Victoria)
